About
Rita K. Sanders has been a professional film and video editor since 2003. Rita began her career by editing television news on tape-to-tape machines and has since cut on five feature films and many shorts, industrial videos and music videos. In 2009 “The Horse Boy” (previously titled “Over the Hills and Far Away”) premiered at theĀ Sundance film festival and won the audience award at SXSW.
Her past work includes “Slam Planet: War of the Words” which garnered an audience award at SXSW 2006 and the narrative feature “Fall to Grace” which won the best narrative prize at the New Orleans Film Festival.
Rita has also edited video extensively for many non-profit groups including Grrl Action, The Austin Browncoats, and the Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities.
When not editing Rita enjoys science fiction TV shows, books and movies, pampering her cats and thrift store shopping. She is learning how to sew and how to throw the perfect tea-party. Rita also lived in Japan for two years teaching English, and eating every new food she could.
Rita is a consummate professional. Having worked with her on both big and small projects, I find her energy, dedication, and creativity to be unwavering. Rita believes in the work she takes on and brings her full heart and soul to the table each time. She is a joy to work with.
